Who the heck is Jake?

Jake Martin is a 36-year-old fitness fanatic on a mission. Born and raised in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Jake’s passions include working out and motorcycling (both dirt and road).

Since the age of 16, Jake has been in a structured exercise, a fact he credits for giving him direction and focus, even during tough times. “I was able to channel my negative energy into something positive,” he says. “It gave me a good positive self image and helped with my self esteem.”

About eight years ago, Jake began competing in body building, but quickly found it wasn’t for him. “I didn't really enjoy the competition part of it - too time-consuming and stressful. I had to watch every thing i ate and drank, down to the last gram. It completely consumed my life.”

Now Jake shares his life with his wife and son and without obsessing about gaining or losing a pound or two. “As long as I'm healthy and in good shape, that's all that matters to me,” Jake explains. “I work out (weight lifting) about 3 - 4 times a week. For cardio, I get on the Stairmaster or the Elliptical.”

Recognizing that he has an innate knack for motivating other people, Jake has dedicated the next phase in his life to inspiring others to get in shape. “I’m on a mission to get people up and out,” he says. “I call it taking a JakeBreak.”

So take a break with Jake and find something to inspire you to get up and get out and get in shape.
